North Norfolk, UK walking and cycling from mYminiBreak rests on three big routes: the Peddars Way National Trail (about 46 miles, ends at Holme-next-the-Sea), the King Charles III England Coast Path / Norfolk Coast Path along the shore, and the Rebellion Way (about 232 miles of cycle touring through Norfolk and Suffolk). Open bases: Hunstanton / Heacham, Holme-next-the-Sea and Holt woodland. Always check National Trails and Cycling UK maps before you set out.
This is the walking and cycling pillar under Activities in Norfolk. Flat lanes, big sky, saltmarsh and woodland. Boots or bikes. Dogs on leads where the path asks for it. The product is the trail day. The stay is how you sleep at both ends of it.
We do not run a South Norfolk forest campsite. Peddars Way still starts inland near Knettishall Heath. Our live finish bases sit on the coast at Holme and Hunstanton. Holt covers woodland walks and Rebellion Way / Coast Cycleway legs inland.

Coast Path first light. Holme and Hunstanton put the trail outside the door.

1. Peddars Way

Peddars Way: Roman-line walking across open country to the North Norfolk coast at Holme-next-the-Sea.
The Peddars Way is half of the Peddars Way and Norfolk Coast Path National Trail. Authority: National Trails.
- Distance: about 46 miles (74 km) Peddars Way alone
- Start: Knettishall Heath Country Park area (Suffolk / Breckland edge). Cyclists often join from Thetford station for the bike line. That inland start is not a mYminiBreak site.
- Finish: Holme-next-the-Sea, North Norfolk, UK, where Peddars meets the coast path
- Typical walk: 3 to 4 days, mostly gentle grades
- Character: Roman road alignment, heath, farmland, big sky, then saltmarsh and sea
How mYminiBreak fits: Holme-next-the-Sea is the trail finish. Book the last night (or last two) on our Holme pitches and glamping. Hunstanton / Heacham is a short hop for a soft landing after the final stage, cottages, short breaks or coastal huts. We do not sell “both ends with our Thetford site.” That site is closed. Walkers still start inland; they finish with us on the coast.
Stage maps, water and transport: use the National Trails interactive map before you pack. Dog walkers: check livestock and local signs stage by stage. Our Holme and Hunstanton stays are dog-friendly under site rules.
Local Holme context: Things to do in Holme-next-the-Sea.
2. King Charles III England Coast Path (Norfolk Coast Path)

Same sand and marsh. The national name is King Charles III England Coast Path. On the ground in Norfolk you still follow Norfolk Coast Path waymarks for the continuous shore path.
Along the Norfolk shore, walkers use the Norfolk Coast Path name on signs. Much of that continuous coastal line is delivered as part of the King Charles III England Coast Path, the national trail that will eventually ring the English coast. National Trails notes that newer border-to-border Norfolk sections were created as England Coast Path stretches, while the whole shore walk is signed as one Norfolk Coast Path for clarity.
- Norfolk coastal distance: about 112 miles (180 km) border to border on current National Trails summary
- Classic North Norfolk stretch for our guests: Holme and Hunstanton east toward Thornham, Titchwell, Brancaster, Burnhams, Wells, Blakeney, Cley and on toward Cromer
- Junction: Peddars Way meets the coast path at Holme-next-the-Sea
- Landscape: dunes, saltmarsh, beaches, pine belts, cliffs at Hunstanton, huge skies
From mYminiBreak:
- Holme-next-the-Sea, step onto the path at the Peddars finish. Holme Dunes NNR, Seahenge foreshore story, White Horse Holme nearby for food after the walk.
- Hunstanton / Heacham, Coast Path access without a long drive to a trailhead. West toward The Wash bird country; east into the classic marsh villages. Old Hunstanton and Holme for dog beaches when main Hunstanton beach is restricted in season.
- Holt woodland, inland base for eastern coast day walks (Sheringham, Cromer stretch) and the car-free Holt Country Park / Baconsthorpe line when legs want trees instead of wind.
Authority and maps: Peddars Way and Norfolk Coast Path on National Trails. Tide and reserve rules change; RSPB Titchwell and local boards win on the day.
Wildlife pairing: Norfolk Wildlife.
3. Rebellion Way

Rebellion Way: long Norfolk and Suffolk touring on quiet lanes. Bring the bike. Sleep at Hunstanton or Holt between stages.
The Rebellion Way is a circular long-distance cycle route of about 232 miles through Norfolk and Suffolk, promoted by Cycling UK. Name nods to Boudicca and Kett. Quiet lanes, tracks and market-town links. Typical full tour is several days. GPX and official notes live with Cycling UK / Visit North Norfolk route pages. Confirm the current download before you roll.
- Distance: ~232 miles circular (join points include Norwich and coastal / rail towns)
- Terrain: mostly gentle; lanes, some off-road; gravel or touring setup works for many stages
- Our useful stops: Hunstanton / Heacham on northern and coastal legs · Holt for mid-Norfolk / coast-cycleway style days · Holme for quieter coastal night after a shore-adjacent stage
Honest base map: we no longer offer a Thetford forest pitch for the southern Breckland stage. If your plan still includes High Lodge or Breckland forest riding, treat that as a day trip or separate booking elsewhere. For Rebellion Way nights with mYminiBreak, book Hunstanton, Holme or Holt.

Frequently asked questions
What are the main walking and cycling routes near mYminiBreak?
Peddars Way (National Trail finish at Holme), King Charles III England Coast Path / Norfolk Coast Path along the shore, and Rebellion Way cycle touring (~232 miles). Local extras: Holt Country Park to Baconsthorpe, quiet lanes, Holkham estate cycling when you book their hire.
Where does the Peddars Way end?
Holme-next-the-Sea on the North Norfolk coast, where it meets the Norfolk Coast Path. That is why Holme is our trail-finish base. Official detail: National Trails.
Is the Norfolk Coast Path the same as the King Charles III England Coast Path?
On the ground in Norfolk you follow Norfolk Coast Path waymarks for the continuous coastal path. Sections of that national coastal network are part of the King Charles III England Coast Path programme. National Trails treats the full Norfolk shore walk as one signed Norfolk Coast Path for walkers.
What is the Rebellion Way?
A long circular cycle route of about 232 miles through Norfolk and Suffolk, associated with Cycling UK. Quiet lanes and tracks. Use official GPX. Stay with us at Hunstanton, Holme or Holt for northern and mid-route nights. We do not offer a closed forest campsite for southern stages.
Can I walk these trails with a dog?
Often yes on open paths, with livestock, ground-nesting birds and seasonal beach rules in mind. Our three open bases are dog-friendly under site rules. Read Dog-Friendly Norfolk for beaches and pubs.
Do you still have a Thetford site for Peddars Way start or Rebellion Way south?
No. That site is permanently closed. Peddars still starts inland at the official Knettishall area. Finish with us at Holme or soft-land at Hunstanton. Rebellion Way southern forest nights need another host.
Where do I book a walking or cycling stay?
Direct at norfolkcoast-cottage.co.uk. Editorial stay map: Norfolk Accommodation.
Is Norfolk flat enough for cycling?
For most touring and family days, yes. Expect gentle grades, wind on the coast, and the need for lights and manners on shared lanes. Rebellion Way and Coast Cycleway style routes suit touring and gravel setups more than pure road-race profiles.
